What: Cosmology is the branch of astronomy involving the origin and evolution of the universe, from the Big Bang to today and on into the future. According to NASA, the definition of cosmology is “the scientific study of the large scale properties of the universe as a whole.”

A cosmologist is someone who studies the physical universe. Cosmologists are interested in how the universe was formed, what is happening to the universe, and what the place of humans within the overall framework of the universe. Might be People have long been interested in the nature of the universe, and cosmology has been a part of human life for thousands of years, but it only acquired a scientific bent more recently. They also know astronomy, the science of identifying, naming, and describing the various objects in the universe. A cosmologist often works as an experimental scientist, testing hypotheses about the universe and making observations of the parts of the universe, which are visible from Earth to find more avenues of exploration.

 A fresher cosmologist can get up to Rs. 25,000- 50,000 per month, which can gradually increase with time and experience.

How: Someone interested in a career in cosmology should plan on starting early, preferably in high school with a strong set of math and science courses. In college, a future cosmologist may study in a cosmology program, or he or she may choose to come at the field from the perspective of astronomy, physics, or astrophysics. Most cosmologists have performed advanced graduate work in the field, and many work as teachers and researchers at universities around the world. Others work for private scientific institutions, or government agencies with an interest in the field.

Where: Basic qualification to get admission in courses that leads to a person becoming a cosmologist is 10 +2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as main subjects.

कॉस्मॉलजिस्ट वह होता है जो भौतिक जगत का अध्ययन करता है। ब्रह्मांड का गठन कैसे हुआ, ब्रह्मांड में क्या हो रहा है और ब्रह्मांड के समग्र ढांचे में मनुष्यों की जगह कहां है इन सब बातों में एक कॉस्मॉलजिस्ट की गहरी रुचि होती है। लंबे समय से लोगों में ब्रह्मांड की प्रकृति को जानने मे दिलचस्पी रही है और हो सकता है कॉस्मॉलजी हजारों साल से मानव जीवन का हिस्सा रही हो लेकिन उसे वैज्ञानिक मान्यता अभी हाल ही में मिली है। वह एस्ट्रॉनामी के विषय में भी जानते है जिसके अंतर्गत ब्रह्मांड में मौजूद विभिन्न वस्तुओं की पहचान होती है और उनके विषय में गहन अध्ययन किया जाता है। कॉस्मॉलाजिस्ट आमतौर पर एक प्रयोगात्मक वैज्ञानिक के रूप में काम करते हुए ब्रह्मांड के बारे में परिकल्पनाओं का परीक्षण करता है और अन्वेषण के और अधिक अवसरो को खोजता रहता है जिससे ब्रह्मांड का अवलोकन किया जा सके।

एक फ्रेशर कॉस्मॉलाजिस्ट शुरुआती तौर पर प्रतिमाह 25,000-50,000 रुपये तक कमा सकता है जिसमें समय और अनुभव के साथ इज़ाफा होता रहता है।

कैसे: कॉस्मॉलजी में करियर बनाने के इच्छुक विद्यार्थियों को इसके लिये हाईस्कूल से ही गणित और विज्ञान विषयों के साथ तैयारी शुरु कर देनी चाहिये। कॉलेज में एक भावी कॉस्मॉलाजिस्ट या कॉस्मॉलजी प्रोग्राम की पढ़ाई कर सकता है या वह एस्ट्रॉनामी, फिजिक्स या एस्ट्रोफिजिक्स के माध्यम से फील्ड में उतर सकता है। ज्यादातर कॉस्मॉलाजिस्ट्स जहां फील्ड में एंडवास ग्रेजुएट वर्क करते है वहीं कई कॉस्मॉलाजिस्ट दुनियां भर के विश्वविद्यालयों में शिक्षक और शोधकर्ता के रूप में काम करते हैं। इसके अलावा कई कॉस्मॉलजिस्ट अपनी रुचि के अनुसार किसी निजी वैज्ञानिक संस्थान, या सरकारी एजेंसी के लिए काम करते हैं।

कहां: कॉस्मॉलजिस्ट बनने की पढाई करने के लिये किसी विद्यार्थी को भौतिकी, रसायन विज्ञान और गणित के साथ 10 +2 उतीर्ण होना चाहिये
