What: Biophysics identifies issues related to the structure and dynamics of molecules, cells and tissues in bio systems. This subject also deals with biological motility, energy transformation, biomechanics etc. that takes place in biotic environment. Geophysics is the application of physics in matters related to earth. Both these subjects are created from hybridization of different disciplines of Science. Disciplines of science such as Physics and Biology combined together to give the hybrid field of Biophysics.

How: Biophysics offers a lot of course and career opportunities to aspirants. There are many Universities in India as well as abroad that offers graduate and postgraduate courses on Biophysics. As Biophysics is an emerging subject, it can open wide range of career possibilities in the upcoming years.

The pay scale varies tremendously, based on your skill level and experience. However, even at the entry level, biophysics jobs offer good pay. Fresher’s can expect a pay scale of Rs. 15,000 to 20,000. With experience and performance it increases. Those in the research sector in universities, the pay scale is much lucrative including various allowances.

A PhD degree holder in biophysics can find job opportunities as Biophysics Research Scientists; Faculty in Biophysics University etc.  Biophysics related Industries could offer different job opportunities to both graduates as well as postgraduates in Biophysics. Where: MSc biophysics is offered at Panjab University, Chandigarh, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, University of Mumbai, and University of Madras among others. The department of biophysics, at AIIMS is a centre of drug discovery and clinical proteomics, which seamlessly combines structural biology, bioinformatics and proteomics.

The Eligibility for this course is BSc (Hons.) with minimum 60% aggregate. Selection is based on an entrance exam (90 minutes with 90 objective-type questions).

क्या: बायोफिज़िक्स के अंतर्गत बायो सिस्टम में मौजूद कोशिकाओं की गतिशीलता व संरचना और अणुओं व ऊतकों से जुड़े बिंदुओ की पहचान की जाती है। इसके अलावा इस विषय के तहत जैविक वातावरण, ऊर्जा परिवर्तन और बायोमैकेनिक्स का भी अध्ययन किया जाता है। भूभौतिकी पृथ्वी से जुड़े मामलों का अध्ययन करने वाली भौतिक विज्ञान की एक शाखा है। इन दोनों विषयों को विज्ञान के विभिन्न विषयों को हाइब्रिड करके बनाया गया है। विज्ञान की दो शाखाओं यानि फिजिक्स और बायोलॉजी के मिलन से बायोफिजिक्स का जन्म होता है।

कैसे: बायोफिज़िक्स के क्षेत्र में अभ्यर्थियों के लिए काफी कोर्स और करियर की संभावनाए प्रदान करता है। भारत और विदेश में मौजूद कई यूनिवर्सिटिज द्वारा बायोफिजिक्स में ग्रेजुएट और पोस्टग्रेजुएट कोर्सेज की पेशकश की जा रही है। बायोफिजिक्स एक उभरता हुआ क्षेत्र है लिहाजा आगामी वर्षों में इसमें करियर के लिहाज से अपार संभावनाएं उपलब्ध होने की संभावना है।

इस क्षेत्र में वेतनमान का निर्धारण आपके कौशल के स्तर और अनुभव के आधार पर किया जाता है। हालांकि, बायोफिज़िक्स के क्षेत्र में शुरुआती स्तर पर भी अच्छा वेतन मिलता है। फ्रेशर की प्रतिमाह कमाई 15,000 से 20,000 रुपये के बीच हो सकती है। अनुभव और प्रदर्शन के साथ इसमें इज़ाफा होता है। विश्वविद्यालयों में अनुसंधान के क्षेत्र में काम करने वालों का वेतनमान बेहद आकर्षक होता है जिसमें कई तरह के भत्ते भी शामिल होते है।

बायोफिज़िक्स में पीएचडी डिग्री धारक बतौर बायोफिजिक्स रिसर्च साइंटिस्ट या बायोफिज़िक्स यूनिवर्सिटी में फैकल्टी के तौर पर काम कर सकता है। बायोफिजिक्स से जुड़ी इंडस्ट्रिज में ग्रेजुएट और पोस्टग्रेजुएट दोनो के लिए जॉब्स मौजूद हैं। बायोफिजिक्स ग्रेजुएट्स के लिए निम्नलिखित क्षेत्रों में भी रोजगार के अवसर उपलब्ध हैं –

इस कोर्स के लिए अभ्यर्थी को न्यूनतम 60 प्रतिशत अंको के साथ बीएससी (ऑनर्स) होना चाहिए।  सेलेक्श प्रवेश परीक्षा के आधार पर किया जाता है(90 मिनट में 90 वस्तुनिष्ठ प्रकार के प्रश्न)
