Candidates with work experience of more than 5 years can get salary in the range of INR 50,000 to 60,000. Moreover, when mammoth investment from government and private real estate developers is coming up, a huge crunch of trained architects is being felt. The starting salary can be even higher than average Indian salary if the candidate is from premier architecture college.

How: A course in Architecture is a lot of fun. Unlike traditional colleges where you must slog yourself in study halls and libraries, reading and writing all the time, a course in Architecture gives you the liberty to use the right side of your brain, the creative part. You get a lot of opportunities to showcase your creativity and ingenuity while designing structures. Architecture is a very high paying field. Once you get through the course and pass out with good grades, you’d be pursued by large firms looking for fresh talent and new ideas. And compared to most other fields, Architects make a lot more money.

Where: The general entrance exam for architecture in India is the NATA (National Aptitude Test). The test scores, along with the class XII scores comprise the eligibility of applicants for the undergraduate course in Architecture (BArch). Some schools in Maharashtra also require candidates to complete the MASA (Maharashtra Association of Schools of Architecture) Common Entrance Test for regional colleges.
